I went to my 'family reunion' this weekend: my uncle Dan is a hell of a lot more fortunate than I am. Really, I admire him a alot. Not because of his huge house on the lake. Or his custom fishing boat. Or the fact that he was seriously thinking about buying a yacht. Or the fact that he could choose to retire pretty much anytime he wants. No, I admire him because he had a good break in life and used it to earn him more wealth than I expect I'll ever see. I admire him because he works the same long hours I do, but he works for himself, and he earns a great deal more than pittance I do. I'd move to Idaho and follow in his footsteps in a heartbeat, if it meant I could do as well for myself; if he were willing to teach me what he does and how. It'd make me feel proud to be a part of his family's tradition, and just as he didn't disapoint his parents by frivously spending the wealth they left him, I'd make him proud to see his achievements grow in my hands. Then I'd feel I was working for something far more than to support myself alone.
