holy random weekend batman!
friday night was a bust. we watched Sin City and i was in bed by 11.
on saturday i had a hair appoitment. my hair is black again (thank God!) and it's cut in an Elvira-ish style but shorter. love it!
on sunday afternoon my friends and i went to a button convention! that's right. BUTTONS! picture a Tattoo convention but for buttons!
i heard an interview on the radio with the president of the Ottawa Button Club and figured it would be an interresting thing to check out. turns out it was the best time I've had in a long time!
we went, paid our $5 and walked into the convention room. we were the youngest people there!
highlights:
-old man running his fingers through a bin of buttons " i just like to touch them"
-having tea in the cafeteria sitting with two of the cutest old ladies you'd ever meet trying to convert us to the world of buttons.
-the button museum!
-finding a button worth $85!
-the old lady who followed us around at a distance. i'm sure she was convinced we stole a button when while were at her booth.
on saturday night the plan was to go to a friend's place to pre-drink than head out downtown but we found out her street was blocked off at both ends due to a street party that was going on! we ended up drinking at her place than went to the party. they had one of those firefighter smoke simulating trailers set up and a bouncy castle. there was a bbq and when it got dark they set up a fire pit for smores and a giant screen where they projected the first Harry Potter movie. sounds lame but we had a friggin blast!
sunday was a rainy day so i basicaly moved from my bed to the couch and hunkered down all day. it's been so long since i've had a full day to myself doing absolutely nothing. well, almost nothing. i wrote a bit, read and watched movies and drank tea. i think i'll have to schedule at least one day like this a month. it's funny how easily you forget to spend "quiet" time by yourself when you're running arund trying to fit everything into a 7 day week.
......day 7 of the streched ear closing sadness.
i got an email this morning from a lady at the Mrs. Tiggy Winkles Head Office asking if i'd like to come in for an interview. it's for an office admin position. i'm super excited! i totaly need a change from where i am now. this temporary job of 6 months turned into 2 and a half years way too quickly.
