So i read today this huge story on how the Salvation Army had declared war on the LGBT community. Now I'm not a fan of the Salvation Army to begin with, being a corrupt greed fueled organization run by the religious right hand of intolerance; however, I do support helping those is need like food banks, soup kitchens etc. My beef started when I read a financial statement describing how much of that donated money ACTUALLY got to those programs, and it disgusted me. NOW I read this article on how that money is used to lobby for laws to be changed so that their organization can disregard or downright violate the rights and civil liberties of those who have LGBT lifestyles because it suits their organization's religious agenda.
The basic thought was to cut off their funding by not donating the those annoying bell ringers. My initial thought is setting up competing bell ringers, only instead of bright colored fat guys, have scantily clad big breasted women with signs " money for the poor in support of girl on girl action ".
It really just rubs me the wrong way. I don't even belong to the LGBT community and it pisses me off. I guess its because they are using the needy, and homeless as a weapon to discriminate, and spread hatred. Yet this is a group that wants tolerance and love for it's religion, but is intolerant, money grubbing whores. I think faith is a fine idea, but the more I look into the structure of various churches, I think people are better saving their money, time, and practicing their faith in their own homes devoid of the temples or idolatry.
After all its inside you, the capacity for good or evil, and location really isn't important. YOU are the important factor, not the church. Want to do a good thing, instead of tossing your spare change into the endless coffers, make a bunch of sandwiches and go give them to the homeless. Donate your time, and your compassion not your money.
Peace out my freaky darlings....
