Having a major Star Wars moment right now. The summer is coming to a close, so my video games are getting dusted off for the crappy winter months. I can't complain too much, it doesn't rain all winter like it does on the coast, and we are a desert climate, so that means limited snow. All and all I get it pretty easy, except for the wind and bitter fucking cold.
Anyway, so I'm anxiously awaiting Force Unleashed 3, still no production news. I can totally understand why they wouldn't continue the story, after playing the second. I enjoyed the first one. Great story, decent gameplay with the force powers, and don't forget the twist at the end. After seeing the trailer for the Force Unleashed 2, I simply couldn't wait. Maybe that's why it was such a disappointment. Too much of a good thing. Your extreme force power made you nigh unstoppable, which took away from the game play. Unlike the first one where you developed your strength, this one started with you being super strong. Story, there wasn't one. You muddled along in a quest, sure, but each world counted as 3 levels, and you couldn't distinguish between them. I liked the revisiting of planets in the first one, but having them be different as your perspective changed.
So where would number 3 go? I have no clue. They need to create the storyline again. You can't suddenly make him weaker, but you could take the "Old Republic" approach and make various powers available depending on whether you lean towards Jedi or Sith. How do you deal with a super Jedi? Better opponents. The republic was the weaker force, being hunted by the Sith. Boba Fett, he made a cameo in 2 so its time to get him in the game. Other bounty hunter favorites, IG 33, would be cool. Rogue Jedi, Sith hunters, interactions with key battles, like Hoth. There are all kinds of ways to make this one a winner, but I think the story is key.
The first one trudged along, with little or no lead up to the bosses, they were just there. Lets have some character background so it's satisfying to beat some virtual ass.
Okay I've geeked out enough for one blog.
