Watched Arlo Guthrie last night, with my mom. It was pretty great, Lots of aging and neohippies. I am really glad we went. He's sort of a family tradition, if that gives you any idea about my family.
She bought me a neat pair of insulated work boots, which I am excited to break in, new levi's and some cold medicine. Yay for mom's!! She worries about me, which, sometimes, is sort of nice.
I explained to her about suicidegirls and what it is. I was wearing the sweatshirt, which prompted her to ask. She was pretty open to it. (Much more so than my dad.) She works in the mental health feild, and was sketched out by the name, though.
No mom, I am not gonna off myself. Rather a fan of living, actually. Even with the low level depression (dysthymia), I keep myself pretty amused.
I did a degree audit. If I work hard enough, I could be out in the real world, next May, which sounds heavenly. Only one more Maine winter to go.
My awesome awesome advisor is taking off for a while to present an essay in New Zealand about her work with media and indigenous peoples. I think she is doing something with a woman's storytelling group, among a lot of other things. After that, she is going to tromp around the New Zealand wilderness alone. She rode her bicycle over the alps alone. The woman is my hero.
I think it's important to have heroes. I like strong, outspoken women (deviants?) to be mine. Mae West and Isadora Duncan, Maya Angelou, etc. Heroes are nice when you aren't quite sure how to go about making your own identity. Maybe one day, I can be my own hero.

Mild compared to Maine. Though being close to the mountains, we do get the occasional snowfall which makes everything beautiful. And doesn't rain here as much as everyone says. Good luck with exams.
