cool! on insomniac (comedy central, dumbass!) they're at the covered wagon in s.f.! i wonder if i'll see anyone i know.
well, my d.j. gig yesterday was a huge success last night (ya know- the dublin high class of '92 reunion?). my mixes and segues were perfect, and i know i played better music than any other cheesy dj they might hire. anyone else would just play the 'hits' from when they were in high school (like paula abdul-yikes!). but i realize that most people don't want to necessarily want to dance to the stuff they liked in high school. in fact, the songs they liked in high school are more often a source of embarrassment and mockery. the stuff i played from the late 80's/early 90's were stuff that i know people still like to hear in clubs today, mixed with some older and newer stuff. i had so much fun, and i know they liked it. in fact the girl that hired us paid us an extra $125 to play an extra hour (we charge $75, which is also cheaper than any other dj-for-hire you'd find on the internet or in the phone book). i wish i could've taped it, but there's no way to hook up a tape recorder to our mixer.
i'm seriously thinking of going back to kalx. the other day i went over there to say hi to my friend sergio, and just being at the station and looking through all the music (they have the 3rd largest music library in california) made me really miss it. i wanna be a radio star again, even if it's only at a 500 watt college radio station.
i really want to see '24 hour party people.' it looks really cool, and i love music from the late 70's early 80's 'post' punk era (like joy division, for example).
