it's way too hot today. i hate hot weather- even 'kind of' hot weather- and one of the reasons why i like living in this area (near berkeley) is b/c there are rarely days when it gets *TOO* hot. in fact, it usually doesn't get very hot until around sept. or oct.- our summer doesn't really start until fall. it seems like this year there have been more hot days than usual, though, and today is one of them. tomorrow is supposed to be hotter. i live in an upstairs apt. with no air conditioning. i'm going to die by late afternoon.
today i was hanging up some towels that i'd just washed to dry outside. i was pinning them on the clothesline, when i felt something crawling on my foot. i looked down, and saw that my feet were crawling with ants! it was so disgusting. then i saw that there were ants crawling all over and around the storage room door of one of my neighbors. i also saw a bunch of ants crawling near his apt. door. the guy's hardly ever home... i hope he's not storing a bunch of dead bodies or something.
i'm still really tired. i've been feeling really nervous and anxious lately, and haven't been sleeping well. i'm not even really sure why.

on the one hand, it's good to have stores like ross and barnes and noble in that area (right next to a bart station...unlike the powell st. plaza in emeryville which never has any parking), and i dig the huge new albertson's...they really needed to do SOMETHING with that space, especially after capwell's left; but on the other hand, it's completely lost that hometown feel. like i said, i grew up in albany, and the plaza was where we always hung out at after school and on weekends (like at swenson's! mmmm...). it was such a local place. now it is just like any generic shopping center you'd find anywhere- there's no personality to it anymore, and you've got everyone and their mama coming there from all over the place. plus, they closed a lot of the old stores and put up 2 starbuck's (one of them is inside albertson's). they didn't close the stores that i cared most about, though- long's and silver screen video- and the melodee is still there!
i meant 'worse half' as a joke. i just sometimes playfully introduce him like that, instead of 'better half,' which is a term that always sounded ridiculous to me.
god- i really gotta get to bed!
i resent that.
suburbanite.
hehe
