I am burning the midnight oil.
Studying late and feeling the strain, I smell of caffeine and cigaretts and all I want to do is sleep, but the tension will allow me no reprieve.
I decided I would like to share something with you all which most have probably read before..
Its a beautiful and simple little poem that really made me smile for the first time tonight.
The Clod and the Pebble
BY WILLIAM BLAKE
"Love seeketh not itself to please,
Nor for itself hath any care,
But for another gives its ease,
And builds a Heaven in Hell's despair."
So sung a little Clod of Clay
Trodden with the cattle's feet,
But a Pebble of the brook
Warbled out these metres meet:
"Love seeketh only self to please,
To bind another to its delight,
Joys in another's loss of ease,
And builds a Hell in Heaven's despite."
As this is poetry, draw your own conclusions and hopefully this poem will mean something to you as it did to me.
