Ok, so there's this Red Cross creidit card we got which is cool because, well, our jobs are back in N.O. under water. But the stupid part is it has to be used in 30 days. So, instead of being really usefull for, i dunno, gas to get back to New Orleans and get my stuff and get to where ever i'm going to live next, we have to spend it before it expires and is wasted. Seems kinda wastefull, but that's the case.
So we went to GoodWill and Sintantrix got some clothes, and i got some tapes, records, 3 cookbooks and CDs for way fucking cheap.
Tape:
Huey Lewis & the News: Sports
Sade: Diamond Life
Till Tuesday: Welcome Home
Rob Base: It takes Two
Record:
Beethoven
Liszt
CD:
Rachmaninoff, Rimskij-Korsakw, & Prokofjew
Mozart
Beethoven
Schubert
what i thought would be Bartok, but i think she put the wrong CD in the case and it wound up being another classical guy i can't remember
I Shot Andy Warhol soundtrack (i've never seen the movie but it was a free CD)
and C+C Music Factory's album. HAHAHA
CookBooks:
Crepes
Egg & Cheese
and a book about the science of cooking
There was also the spree at Walgreens where we got a whole bunch of things we left in New Orleans that we kinda need, like soap, toothpaste, hair clippers, razors, and a gazillion other things. We spent almost $200 there.
We also went to the pet store and got bianca an new hammoc/sleep sack to sleep in, some vitamins, treats, toys, a ferret book and medicines.
We did a big food shopping spree. Mmmmm food.
And we got a whole bunch of books to try to ease our boredome.
-Bill Mahr's new book "New Rules," which i read last night. Funny.
-Recording magazine for the sound engineer that i am.
-A book from the Science section studying how Music affects people and why it's so entrancing and why we like it and a whole bunch of other science based studies on Music and the Brain.
-A collection of Joseph Heller (author of Catch-22, my favorite book ever) writing. It was $3!!!! In fact a bunch of the books were on clearance for $3.
-Some novel about some chick that Sintantrix got.
-and two neuroscience books. One about why "God" won't Go away, called, "Why God Won't Go Away" that discusses the brain functions around spirituality. The other book is about the brain and studies done showing people curing themselves of different problems both neurological and physical by merely changing the way they think (to oversimplify it). By doing that they're actually able to change the neuropassageways in their brains that caused the problem. It's basically some hard science that supports Mind over Matter.
But if last night is any indication as to how quickly i'll read these books, I'm going to be bored again rather soon. It wasn't a hard read nor very long, but i dont think i've ever read through a book that fast.
And, just to make me feel like my life is somewhat normal, i might be heading down to Tampa/St. Pete today tosee the Yankees play the Devil Rays. It's been far too long since i've been to a Yankees game. Unfortunately, the Yanks cant seem to beat the DRay for shit this year.
If anyone wants to meet me in Tampa/St. Pete, let me know. Not that any of you are actually anywhere neer Tampa/St. Pete. I just thought i'd be polite and extend the invitation. I'm usually an asshole so i figured i'd be nice. You know, i try to be nice and this is the thanks i get? FINE! Be like that! I HATE YOUR HOUSE! I HATE YOUR RULES! and I HATE YOU!!! <runs up stairs crying and slams door behind himself- crazy Rock and Roll music starts blasting through closed door>
