Sorry, been a bit SG-Absent lately. Been a bit busy for someone with no job.
Been learning songs for 2 shows I have coming up with Hungry Mob. For those of you in the Portland Area the first show is at the Blue Monk on Belmont this Friday the 17th. We're playing with Suckapunch (Mic Crenshaw of Hungry Mob and Keith Schriener of Auditory Sculpture and Dahlia)
I've been playing Producer/Programmer/Bassist for another band that just recently got tother. That's a fucking headache because they're a bunch of amatures. Well, the Singer's got a head on her shoulders and doesnt fuck around. But the other two are going to drive me nuts soon. I forsee serious work ethic, dedication, skill, growth, creative, and directional conflicts arising in the near future. That;s what happens when you mix people who's profession is Music (ie: music pays the bills, rent, and feeds me) with people who don't need music to live, even if it's "their life".
Then i've been trying to slowly incorporate my Laptop into my home studio,
I've been trying to incorporate my Laptop into my live show.
I've been trying to find a way to convert a PCI SoundCard for my PC to be used on my Laptop so i can bypass the Laptop's garbage soundcard and go directly to my breakout box interface. All this for $0.
I've been tweeking out my laptop's performance so that it's ready to handle the demans of music software.
So, for someone who's technically unemployed, i've been fucking busy.
That plus my Explorer might need a new rear axl, that will go for about $500+ dollars. Fucking Yay. But, that should be the only thing that's wrong with it for a long time. That truck has 241,500 miles on it, and if this gets fixed it should make 300,000 easy with only minimal maintanence. That truck is a fucking bull.
Oh yeah, and then there's the Mardi Gras Party. Again, if you're in the PDX area, the Friday 24th of Feb @ 7:30 (the friday before Fat Tuesday) will be my "fuck-it, i don't care if i'm not in new orleans i'm gonna have mardi gras anyway" party. Jambalaya, Cajun Bloody Marys, Beads, Bear, and whatever else.

We have one on a now useless Media-100 system at work. My boss, who doesn't know dick about technology, won't decommission it.
If she did I would just ship it to you.
But, I was reading something the other day about home-building an external pci interface.
I've since cleared my history but I'll try and find it for you.
You may need someone to program an IC for you though. The chips are cheap and reusable but the programming board isn't. Although you could make one. But that's a lot of building for a simple box.
I would check with a local Linux group in Portland. Maybe a hardware club/homebrew computer club (they still exist). Someone may have already built this particular golden-calf in your area and can give you hands on advice.
I'll see what I can find out, good luck at any rate.
