i am a dumbass...my right thumb is killing me right now because i was carless with handeling a hot pepper while making guacamole. i had no idea they could be so painfull to skin. apparently there isn't much you can do, because the oil does not wash off and you just have to wait it out for up tp 12 hours! beware of hot peppers, and wear latex gloves! 
i can say from experience it fuckin hurts
