Well, Surgery is over with, and I'm at home recovering. Finally got feeling back in my leg last night. They used what's called Femoral Block anesthesia. That's when they stick a needle into your hip and then send an electrical charge through it to determine what nerves control what part of the leg, then when they find the right one, they inject a neural inhibitor, much like novacaine, to shut off the nerve. So, that finally wore off last night, boy, there was a real religious experience. suddenly the pain centers of my brain lit up like the fucking vegas strip. Now, they had prescribed me painkillers, I normally don't take painkillers, but when the femoral block wore off, I really needed one, unfortunately I couldn't take what they gave me. Being that I hae done heroin in the past, I can not take Oxycontin, which is what they gave me. ,Luckily I still have the full bottle of demoral left over from the initial injury, so, I take the demoral to get to sleep. Another thing, I think the CryoCuff by Aircast is the most keen invention ever, it's this kneepad looking doohickey that you put around your knee, then you fill up the thermos (looks alot like the ones you'd mix LEmonade or Iced Tea in) with Icewater then you plug the hose from the mottom of the thermos into this little nipple type thing in the kneepad and open the spout in the thermos, now raise it above the knnepad and icewater fills the kneepad thingy, and voila, icepack, then close the vent/nozzle on the thermos and detatch the hose. when the water is no longer cold repeat the previous process except lower the thermos below the kneepad and the water goes back into the cooler to be recooled, then just start over again.
So, I don't get to my computer much, I spend most of my time in my bed hooked up to a CPM (Constant Passive Motion) machine. Luckily I have my Playstation 2. I do have one weird question tho, ok, I took off the bandages today, and there's 4 incisions, one on the front of the knee (for the ACL work) one on each side (for each meniscis) and then theres one like 6 inches above my knee on my thigh. The one on my thigh makes absolutely no sense to me, anyone been through the procedure before that might have an idea what this 4th incision is about? I'm looking to you mostly Marlowe
