Denied my due detection,
My mistakes refuse to take,
In matters of waning memory,
Lessons long linger to wake,
Wrongly recalling it rightly,
How hard my eye's hurt and strain,
For what is first forgotten, friend,
But our past of plight and pain,
Thieving eye's try too hard to hide,
That they so slowly start to weep,
And slip whispered words never heard,
With curious question to keep.
ROUGH draft, to say the least. But working on it, it got me thinking. We put a lot of power on prophecy. The ability to clearly see the future. To see what's ahead.
But who's to say, we see the past any clearer. Do you REALLY know were you've been, or how you got here? Are the paths not traveled any clearer than a future ones? Or is it more cloudy? And maybe it's the raze of the past that blinds us from prophecy? Blinding us with the mistakes we made, and the ones we never knew about.
Don't let your past, limit your options. Be open to repeat the same mistakes. I guarantee you, you're already repeating the ones, you don't know about. Don't let the pain and guilt from the past cower you, make you not take chances. Do me that favor. Right now. Slay the Jabberwocky.
But then what the hell do I know.
