Ok... let's see how deep this is gonna get.
What does life feel like. There is an immense amount of various sensations that are experienced.
Today's it was pain. The kind that you feel when you've been pursuing other physical endeavors for the past three years of your life, but find yourself yearning to return to your roots when a friend offers you the chance to return to the sport that was your source of pride and glory. The one you gave up because life got in the way, whether it was school, or work, or the pursuit of love (another discussion for perhaps another time).
Today I returned to the pitch to engage in one of my true passions, soccer (apparently I'm Canadian). True it wasn't the same intensity or competitiveness that I was used to, hell it's a coed league, and those girls had fantastic legs... skill wise and other wise.
So here you are on the field, and all the ingrained tactics, second nature skills and past exploits zipping through your mind at the speed of light. Then its go time, and you go, only to realize that not everything works quite as well it used to. This doesn't stop you... Neither does the first opponent... no, what stops you is the enormous biff you take because your personal balance fails you, only to be staring at the cleats of the cute blonde chick on the other team.
Casually she simply take off in the opposite direction, not sparing you another look and the other team has their first goal. Definitely a smashing start for you.
Of course... its all for fun, the score is redundant, but that still never stops you from pushing yourself past the point your brain is telling you to slow down. Then it's all over soon enough, all thats left is the sweat on your brow and neck, the coppery taste of what must be a bit of blood lining your tongue and mouth, the soreness so intense you can barley stand up and the the one thought going through your head..."Damn I needed that".
It is one of the most glorious feelings I think anyone can feel.
Euphoria through pain.
Well thats the state I end this rant in, absolute full body soreness, it will most definitely be worse tomorrow.
But until then, a hot shower, and a glass of chocolate milk to calm the nerves after one of the best nights I've had in a long, long time...
