Day One - Introduce Yourself
Hello! My name is Christopher James Harding, but please call me Chris. I'm 20, and was born and brought up in South Wales (born in Newport, lived in Risca all my life, moved once to a house two streets away after my grandmother died.) I'm a little over 6' tall, a bit fat, pretty hairy, but I've got a heart of gold.
I'm about to enter my third and final year of a BA Sound Technology degree, which I am studying for at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (aka LIPA). I'm still not sure what I'm going to do once I've graduated - I'd love to go into plug-in design or something to do with that sort of programming stuff, but I'd also love to go into live sound, or have my own studio and produce local bands to a reasonable quality for a reasonable fee. I've recently got the idea in my head that I'm going to emigrate to Norway once I've finished this degree, if only for a few years. I've also been told by a number of people that I'd make a great tour manager for bands... I like that idea.
I play bass, acoustic guitar (steel + nylon string), electric guitar, banjo, ukulele, harmonica, and I sing, although perversely I can't play the piano. It's on my list! I'm massively into my music and I'll listen to pretty much anything. I know a lot of people say that, but I do like to think it's true. My favourite artist is Yo La Tengo, with Neil Young a close second. My favourite album is "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel.
I've been described as "passionate," but I'd probably more accurately term it "obsessive." I go through phases of becoming obsessed with something (be it a band, an activity, a job, a place, a dish... whatever.) This has in the past fascinated, enthralled, annoyed and irritated many people. It's started at least one relationship, and ended another.
I think that's a good enough introduction; do you?
