I can't stop listening to Slint lately. Aside from that, here's what's new...
Last Thursday until Sunday, I went on cricket tour to Tamworth. I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but basically it started out as the local pub (from back home)'s cricket team traveled to another town, played a friendly with a local team, had a piss-up then came back. It's gradually lost the cricket playing, and has evolved into anyone who drinks in the Prince and puts their name down, pays their money in and gets drunk for four days. Occasionally, there are some excursions (a round of golf, watching a cricket match etc.)
Well, this year we had a round of golf... and I was awful. Like, really truly awful. My old man kept saying stuff like "try and hit it longer, follow through on the shot etc." but to be honest, if I could hit the fucking ball I counted that as a success. I had a pint bolter on the Sunday morning (when no-one wants to drink anything, least of all down a pint of Strongbow) for my abysmal playing and the number of divets I left... "although on the plus side, they're expecting a lovely crop of Maris Pipers next year."
So I spent most of monday drying out, before getting a train back up to Liverpool to continue flat-hunting...
Since finishing the second year of my course, all my time has been eaten up with trying to find a place to live next year... and yesterday, I FINALLY FOUND ONE!! YIPPEE!! It's in a development in the city centre called the Tea Factory, which I've seen before and immediately fell in love with. Yesterday, whilst looking around a shitty flat that was 750 a month and looked out directly onto a derelict warehouse covered with barbed wire (oh, and there were bars on the window) the woman mentioned that one had come up in the Tea Factory. Went to look around at 3pm and went for it straight away. Moving in soon hopefully though, as I have to be out of this place by the 25th June. Talk about cutting it fine...
I'm off to visit my friend (and future flatmate) Joe today and staying for the night. He lives in a little town called Great Harwood just outside Blackburn, and I love it there. I'm sure if I wasn't born in Wales I'd have been born up north, because I really love it up here. So yeah, piss-up tonight, then back to Liverpool again tomorrow.
Also, a guy off the Flaming Lips messageboard travelled over from the States to Dublin this week; I told him if he wanted to get a ferry over to Liverpool, I'd happily meet up with him, show him the sights, and put him up for the night. He said he'd let me know... exciting!!
That's all for now. Inabit x
