I have been swamped this past month. Exam, recording submission deadline, essay deadline, live sound assessment and related documentation deadline... I'm fried. Too busy to blog... until now!
However, this week is "Industry Week" in my university. It comes round every three years (so every year group gets it at some point in their time on the Sound Technology course) and the premise is that they get lots of names from the various sectors of the sound industry to come and give seminars, masterclasses, workshops and product demonstrations for a week. Tomorrow I will hopefully be attending a masterclass and lecture by Paul Harding. On Thursday, I am attending a day-long seminar by Klang & Freitag PA design, and then on Friday I am attending a workshop by Mike Crossey (a graduate of my course/university, and renowned producer of Arctic Monkeys) then an afternoon demonstration by Allen & Heath of their new iLive live mixer design. It's all very interesting, and apparently the free swag is incredible as an added bonus.
I'm then off home on Saturday. I'll be home in time for the 5:30pm kick-off of the opening RBS Six Nations match... Wales V England. This is the big one, and I'll be in my old local to watch it. Doesn't get much better than that for a homecoming. I've got two weeks off uni, I'm spending them both at home, and my friend Jamie is probably coming down for a weekend during that period. As a Yorkshireman who regularly takes the piss out of my Welsh nationality, it should be good.
Also, I am taking part in the RPM Challenge this February - you can follow me here. That also means that at the end of the month I should hopefully have my first release through my DIY-record-label-cum-joke-cum-boredom-fuelled-experiment Rarebit Records
It's all go here! How're you finding 2010 so far?
