This flat's turning into a regular bed and breakfast right now. Except it's free.
I had that Australian CouchSurfer stay from Monday until early Wednesday morning. Both nights, we went out on the screaming piss and had a good night - never pair up the Welsh and the Aussies in rounds, it gets messy. His second (and last) night here, he disappeared from the club at around midnight. That's around the time it dawned on me I hadn't seen [Girl A] in a while. I'd been trying to hook [Girl A] and him up all night, and it actually happened. He won't be forgetting Liverpool again in a hurry...
So he left early last night (getting back to my flat from hers with enough time to grab his shit and leg it for his taxi). Today, I went to my uni to pick up one of three German guys that are over here to look around the uni. This one was not a CouchSurfer though; I got an e-mail a few months back from some guy called Arthur who works in LIPA, asking if anyone could put up anyone for when they visit. So yeah, his name's Frank and he's a guitarist, and he's a pretty cool guy. He's telling me about his favourite bands that I haven't heard of, and vice-versa. There's gonna be a pretty epic music swap before he leaves on Sunday morning.
Then at 13:30 on Sunday, I'm picking up a Brazilian CouchSurfer from the train station, and he's staying until Tuesday morning. It's so nice meeting all these complete strangers for a night or two. Nice to know that if I ever travel to Australia, or Colorado, or Brazil, or Southern Germany, or Madrid, I'll have a friend who can put me up.
Anyway, I'm running extremely low on tobacco and papers, so I'm gonna roll another and kick back with On The Beach. It's probably one of Neil Young's most overlooked albums in my opinion - it's the 2nd of the "Ditch Trilogy" he released following the success of Harvest. All three were very emotionally raw, a little rough round the edges, and absolutely brilliant. I might do a quick blog at some point about Neil, rather than talk incessantly about the man here.
"Sooner or later it all gets real; walk on."
