For my first blog, you join me in the midst of a panic attack:
My SynC project was due Friday, I got an extension until Monday 3pm. It's now 8pm Sunday and it's still not done... granted, two nights in a row of being out on the piss was amazing, but... yeah, I smell another all-nighter. For those of you have never used SynC (read: normal people) it's a stripped down freeware version of Reaktor.
It's an educational program for creating your own synths and understanding how delay and reverb effects work. It's also completely unreliable, crashes every 10 minutes, is Windows only (every Sound Techie has a Mac, so then you gotta dick around with Darwine/VMware/Parallels/Boot Camp and further complicate things) and just to top it off the program is no longer supported. Want to buy the full version? Need some help with it? Technical support? TOUGH.
On the plus side, I have just realised how many gigs I have coming up:
May 6 - Jeff Lewis & The Junkyard
May 13 - Holy Fuck
May 18 - My Vitriol
May 21 - Future Of The Left
May 25 - George Thorogood
June 12 - 24 - Download Festival
June 26 - AC/DC
June 27 - Hard Rock Calling (NEIL MOTHERFUCKING YOUNG!!!)
October 11 - John Otway with Wild Billy Barrett
October 31 - Buena Vista Social Club
December 4 - 6 - All Tomorrow's Parties: Nightmare Before Christmas '09 (curated by My Bloody Valentine)
Shit yeah.
Now back to SynC, once I've finished it then I've got a write-up to do. Better put the coffee maker on and leg it to the student shop to get some smokes.
