I'm (all visa interviews allowing) emigrating and leaving this country around the start of April 2013. This is fairly daunting. It means I have a little over three months left in this country. If you're from the USA, tell me one thing that anyone moving there should know. surreal

The multitude of bacon varieties available in any decent English butchers is no-existent here. It's all belly bacon or "Canadian" back bacon.

Ordering a Scotch in the US is a pleasant surprise. None of that 5th of a jil nonsense. Much cheaper, too.

The US is vast. Try to settle in to a region and treat it as a European country.

Avoid California unless you are independently wealthy.

I am engaged, and I will be marrying my fiance on the 4th of May 2013, at which time I will be emigrating permanently to the United States Of America. Specifically, Brookings SD.
