As many of you may know, my husband is a Farmer for an organic CSA farm. It is called Mud Creek Farm and they farmed all summer and fall and sell shares of vegetables, herbs, fruits and edible flowers that are distributed weekly. We have been very lucky to become a part of this little community and the fruits of his labor are so bountiful very barely have to buy any groceries at harvest times, In fact we will have to can our left overs this year in order to not waste anything.
This year the farm is under new ownership and in a new location that has gone unfarmed for quite some time. The learning curve and weed fight on the new property has been intense, I am so proud of Mike for how much he has taken the set backs in stride. I know he spend s a huge part of his day down on his hands and knees weeding and planting and his back is sore when he gets home but he still loves it to know that he is growing the food we and all the members will eat this summer and fall.
The girls and I go out to the farm from time to time to learn about it and to help out. Once it is distribution time we will be there to help out on the those days when the members come in to make sure everyone gets all that they can out of the experience.
Here are some photos from our first trips to the farm with the girls.
We love the outdoors and the girls are so happy when they are at the farm. There is an endless supply of snails and shells there and the girls are encouraged to take as many away from the farm as possible since they are terrible for the leafy plants. I am excited to see them wanting to participate so much and hope that they will take great memories from these experiences.
Many more updates to come on this topic :) I hope you enjoy seeing this side to me
