I never want to drink another Cherry Vodka and Red Bull again. It became the drink of the Suicide Girls at the Hi Lo/Betsy's Bar complex on Sixth Street in Austin. All I can say is that the Cherry was way better than the Berry, and don't get me started on Grape flavored anything. Napalm and I were out there for 5 nights partying with the SXSW Interactive attendees, along with Selket, Doxie, Illyria and limbogirl Alaina, at nightly parties. Since I've returned, I've been on a steady diet of Pantothenic Acid to revive my poor Adrenals. Also in attendance most of the nights was Napalm's older brother, who really was amazing. I feel like he acted as our bodyguard. I've really never met such a family of sincere, caring people. The awesome lil_tuffy also came pretty much every night he could. I was so glad to have a familiar face there, even if only slightly. He even brought us some promotional merch to give away! I still can't believe we brought nothing, not even stickers! Anyway, back to Austin!
Got in last Friday with about 40 minutes to spare before the first party. It was a pretty casual party. We got out early and were able to explore Sixth Street a bit. Saturday was the Gaming Night. I was definitely excited, as I was to play Gears of War here. Alas, the two copies they brought went missing, so they offered up GRAW 2. I picked it up the day it came out, so I was all into it, until realizing that playing two player GRAW 2 at a party really kind of sucks. Involves far too much concentration. We also had Halo 2 and Guitar Hero 2. I will say that Sunday night's party was definitely the most fun, and likely the craziest. It was the G4, Filmthreat and Ask a Ninja party. That was also where I got to meet Patrick Norton, and where Luke Wilson made some obnoxious kid cry. This party we dressed as Ninjettes for a portion. It could have been cool, except that Kent from Ask a Ninja didn't have a costume. Oops. There should be some hilariously bad photos popping up at some point from that. Sunday was the rough day. After yelling for three nights straight, my throat was busted, so Monday night's party for Warper Party was really looow key. The next night was Facebook, and packed almost from the beginning. Weird crowd though. Seemed like mish mash of Facebook devs, bloggers and film people. Greatly enjoyed the fella that poured a drink on Napalm, while smoking in our faces that told me to fuck off after I suggested he go smoke at the window and then return to chat. On the plus side, at this point, my favorite bartender ever was kind enough to make the Cherry Vodka and Red Bull go away. Joe needs to join SG.
My flight left the next morning at 7:50am, so after working until 2am, sleeping wasn't an option. Afterparty to the rescue! Sadly the thing was totally lame besides the Wii they had set up. I think the clubby music and portapotties killed it for me. So Selket, Illyria and myself took off and went back to Betsy's very briefly, and then onto Katz I think it was? This is where I discovered something truly revolting in thought, but surprisingly delicious. Fried pickles. It seems like a twisted pregnancy craving, but oh man, all I can think about now is Fried Fucking Pickles. Stupid Texas!
So now I'm back home and boy howdy, did I ever miss every single thing living in my apartment. I have my voice back now, so that's great. I picked up Fusion Frenzy 2 yesterday. Tried playing it before the flickering on the Xbox got too distracting. In every game, there are flickers. In the menu, there are flickers. Tinkering with the cables sort of fixed it for a short bit. It doesn't seem to be an overheating issue. I'm going to be super bummed if I have to send it away. At least I have the Wii. Oh shit!! For years I couldn't remember the name of this game I played forever ago on the Genesis. The main thing I could remember was the tiled floors, and that you could run and jump/fly while shooting at things a la vertical scroller. Finally I found that it was Space Harrier 2. Immediately after learning the name, I found it's been on the Wii Virtual Console. I so wish it was the Xbox Live Arcade instead.
On that note, my longest entry ends. Here are some photos from a few of the parties, as well as the pickles.

And that is all! I really, really hope I have the opportunity to return to Austin again soon!

You might want to try pitchers of _Tequila red bull_ instead, got me through singapore, no problem. The vodka doesn't add the opposite vortex.

Drink one on me eh...
