I should start things off by saying I picked up some kind of bug whilst down in a whale's vagina. The throat, it itches, and the head is stuffy. Combined with the epic heat of SoCal (I truly believe we've started our descent into Hell), all I want to do is sleep. Sleep on a bed of ice. Well wishes are welcome!
So, Thursday I began my journey down. My train departed at 5:42. Or rather it should have. Alas, 30 minutes later it arrived. 30 minutes after that the brakes broke between two station and there I sat until around 9:30pm. The train arrived in San Diego 3 hours after that. I wish I had upgraded to business class. On the plus side, I did find a use for Ubuntu on my MBP. Yes, Majhong kept me occupied for a solid three hours. Those gnome games are so simple yet rivoting. At least when stuck on a train without food.
Friday was spent in La Jolla. Live Diggnation! It was pretty neat to be hanging with Martin Sargeant. But best of all was talking with Johnny Johnny from Tikibar TV. A fellow Canadian! I was not alone in my pronunciation of house, about and pasta. Long live the Canadian double double! Anyhow, I also jumped into the ocean and quite possibly ruined my awesome red dress. All in the name of alcohol and salty water. At least I didn't lose my shoes again.
Saturday was spent overheating at Comic-Con. Finally. I wish I had managed to hook up with a camera so I could have brought the fantastic and horrid costumes. My favorite costume moment was when amina exclaimed about seeing a penis head. The most frustration came from the lack of cell phone usability. Nothing would connect for me on Cingular. And for the good parts, got a hands on with the new Warhammer Online game (full report to come by other means), met Paolo Perente, and of course zuiker from tv's CSI. Haha. Thank you again for calling super crush Eric Szmanda and allowing Cedar to leave a definitely amusing and embarassing voice mail. Ugh, there is so much more but it is not meant for a journal update.
Scopitone joined me 4 hours after his train departed and we met up with friends and spent the rest of the night discussing nerd things and drinking beer in Coronado. Dude, Anchorman bridge!! If only they allowed pedestrians on the bridge. Picture ops!
Now, I need to get rest, as I need to kick this bitch of a bug in the ass. Stay tuned! Oh, and here is a photo from Friday night:
