Not surprisingly, I loved The Corpse Bride. I'm not sure that I'll ever think more highly of it than Nightmare Before Christmas, but then, I haven't grown up with Corpse Bride. It is more strong throughout (NBXMAS always did sink a bit towards the end) and has this wonderfully reverent fairy tale quality about it, without being cloying or trying too hard. I've never read anything about the traditional Russian fairy tale it's adapted from, but I'll say that Corpse Bride certainly succeeds in feeling timeless. It's just an honest, pure, sweet little film. Is it bad that I wish I could find a girl as cute and endearing as the Victoria character? Maybe I just have a thing for clay. No, no - she really is alluring for an animated character. Okay, I'm weird.




I have to admit that the Everglott father just reminded me of the Burgermeister Meisterburger constantly.
