So how horrible is it that I'm thinking of skipping out on my friend's wedding this weekend? Wait...don't answer that - I don't need to know what an ass I am.
Here's the thing - one of his soon-to-be-wife's friends is my "first love," a girl who broke up with me no less than two times and did a serious number on me back in college. Now, I bear her no ill will at all, and I'm not attracted to her anymore, but she's gonna be there - with her husband (the guy she started dating right after we broke up for the 2nd time). And I'm going to the wedding alone, since my ex/whatever is, well, definitely out of the picture now. So this is going to be the very definition of awkward.
I'm sure a lot of this is just me being jealous that she's found someone to be happy with and whatnot and I shouldn't feel that way, but I do. And it's going to make the reception incredibly weird. I know there's going to be plenty of other friends from college there, too, but I'm also willing to bet they'll be with their dates/whatever for most of the night. Add to that that I don't get off work until 12:30am on Friday night and will have to get up super early to make the hour-and-a-half drive to Clarion for the wedding. And since I don't feel like shelling out 100 bucks for a hotel, driving that time back home at night. Which means, of course, no alcohol to take the edge off.
Bah humbug.
In preparation for the weekend, hopefully to be enjoyable, no matter what happens -
Blur - "Entertain Me"
The weekend is back
But so is he
Head to the floodlights
See the fraternity
They're waiting
I hear them up in the north
Down in the south
All that is spewing
Spewing out of his mouth
Entertain me
At his'n'hers dating
Bored minds agree
Requirements to be stated
And replies awaited
She wants a loose fit
He wants Instant Whip
Guesstimates her arrival
Will she want it
Really badly?
Entertain me
A car
A house
Both in a street
The boredom of a sober week
The weekend's here
Hip-hip-hooray
To make the blues
Just go away
Entertain me
