I lost my uncle.
My uncle was my mom's twin brother and the only other blood relative I have. He was a great friend, an icon to a generation, and someone any of you would have been totally stoked to hang out with I feel sick without him and there is no doubt that I feel a huge loss. He was the guy that got Hunter Thompson his speed, he was the guy that supplied H.A. with thier coke and heroin back in the mid-60's, he was the guy that got folks to come up to the canyons to hang with Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young while they were recording the songs that changed a generation. He lived in a cave that he carved out of a cliff in Mexico. He stabbed a H.A. in the neck when the bastard tried to rip him off. He taught the little kids in Mexico that lived near his cave how to play soccer. He has three kids but we don't like those money-grubbing fucks. The love of his life passed away 2 years ago from AIDS-related illness. His love was the smartest mother-fucker I ever knew. He was a history professor at UNC and while the were together they sold guns and green bud to folks that needed both.
My uncle, my dearest uncle, would have been your hero.
I love him and with him goes a world of history.
