Going to keep this short really. Things have been ticking over nicely, with the course being overall pretty good. Went to an exhibition at the British Library, saw Woody Allen filming in London, that sort of thing. Also had a brief lesson on the subject of reviews with a freelance writer for the guardian and other publications which was very illuminating. Unlike my main teacher he was decisive, firm and really pushed us to back up our reticent criticisms with examples and expunge vagueness from our manner. I'll freely admit that despite the brevity of the session, I found him inspiring. I'd been getting frustrated at my teacher's ability to mark with only two grades (B+ or B-) and her inability to give definite answers (she couches them as suggestions). He was kind of like Hugh Grant without the floppy hair, and the last few days I have tried hard to focus, stand straight, and push forward with what I mean to say.
Hannah was over yesterday and amidst chess and sorting out our set list for next Friday she stayed for dinner, where we numbered nine as family friends joined us. It was a fantastic evening, with some wonderful wine being sunk, and a great deal of good conversation. Such is the case when three lawyers are sat at a table.
I have my work experience starting a week tomorrow at the Wokingham Times, and it promises to be an educational experience. I'm a little worried that I have not yet sorted my second week, but I still have a few routes to explore.
Hannah and I saw Islands in London the other week aswell, and they put on a fantastic show. Got tickets to see Say Anything and Broken Social Scene over the next few months too. Sophie's 21st was also an occasion to remember, with wonderful times had larking about in the pool and wolfing down far too much delicious food.
Apropos of nothing, I really like that new Hovis advert. It's a beautiful image, to have someone share your life for it's whole duration, a promised sweetheart.
Oh yeah, on a geeky note, I'm totally playing the hell out of Shadow of the Colossus and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. Fantastic games, the former is a unique experience in its sombre palette and epic battles, while the latter is sheer athletic, puzzle-solving bliss.
I had a rant prepared about celebrity culture, but I'll hold it off for now, give it a few re-writes. Now that I've adjusted somewhat to my schedule, I'll update this with more than photos and daily records.
Until then, time out.
