For those of you that haven’t yet figured it out based on the 18 different models featured on my page, I myself am not a model or an SG or a Hopeful etc. I am a guy, yes a male, in point of fact a 47 year old male photographer. Yes I know the profile pic is a touch misleading but I kind of figured a pic of my ugly mug and I look like every other member, an image I have shot is a better representation than my ugly head would ever be
I came to SG after closing down some other sites. I have been uninspired for a while, not bored so much just unchallenged and less than motivated and I wanted to get something a bit shiny and new going on
I have been a working professional photographer, admittedly as a second profession for many years, I took my first professionally shot nude image in 1997. In the professional world outside of SG models and photographers network via the internet and through agencies etc. In the professional world outside of SG a photographer contacting a model with the offer of a project is professional business it's conducted with this as an acceptable parameter on multiple sites and through modelling agencies, places I have dealt with for years
I joined SG with only the intent of posting some of my own stuff, mostly behind the scenes type stuff and checking out what other people were posting. When I first opened my account I had a reasonable poke around at things and I made the mistake of contacting a handful of girls to see if they were interested in shooting with me. I had checked out some FAQ’s but had not seen one that listed a rule that said photographers should not cold contact models. I made assumptions based on my experience over the past years. That FAQ is listed within the “model FAQ” which I didn’t go through all that well as I was more interested in FAQ for photographers. A simple error on my part and an error that apparently is unforgivable
On April 13 I initiated what was a lengthy back and forth with a girl near Sydney who was keen to meet and discuss doing a project. Mobile phone numbers were exchanged, my intent was to offer her a couple of free sets to post here and some mini sets to help her promote herself. Yes that’s right free, free of charge. With this particular “hopeful” I also intended after I met her to offer her a book cover modelling job I was doing on commission for an author in the USA. I sent that particular “hopeful” one text message on the mobile number she provided me with, I received no reply and never contacted her again after that. This job would have paid $550 to her and she also would have had the same deal for the second book as it’s a two part series. Yes that is a lot for a book cover but it’s also on a very specific commission, exclusive images for the author only and rights in perpetuity. That job which was for a long dark haired girl in a sexy latex outfit (outfit provided by the author and retained by the model) went to another girl. A short behind the scenes video is posted on my page. So yes free sets for SG, promotional mini sets and a book cover series that would have paid her over $1000 and seen her walk home after both shoots with very expensive fancy costumes
On the 11th of May (I still hadn’t seen this FAQ) I sent out this message to a small handful of girls on SG;
"Hi - NAME DELETED
Hows things ?
I have been shooting nudes and glamour stuff for a long time and I only recently joined SG and trying to get into shooting some sets here. So I am approaching a very small collective of Sydney girls and offering “mutual benefit” shoots for SG so I can get my SG career off the ground and of course get some new sets up for talented girls like you.
What I am offering is a half day shoot aiming at 2 full SG sets and 3 separate mini sets that you could use to promote yourself on SG or any other site you’re into, no charges, no fees fully edited.
I shoot quite efficiently and quite casually but I can get a lot done in a short time, I have some very open availability this month being free from 19th of May till the 31st May and any dates across the month after that won’t be hard to work out.
I take a pretty collaborative approach to things and I am really open to what you want to shoot for your sets. I also have some great locations and ideas in mind. I am happy to provide contact details from models I have shot with regularly if needed.
Love to hear from you, have a great day
Brett"
I then heard back from one girl in response and her response was…. “hey yeah let's do it i'm totally down”
And that is a direct copy paste. We then went back and forth about availability dates and she gave me her email and we established a point for next contact via email. I sent her one email and never heard back and didn’t pursue further contact. People change their minds and shit happens
After casting that net on May 11 I got two messages one from a photographer and one from an SG who I contacted with the offer above, they both apprised me of the rule about photographers not contacting girls for shoots, I was very surprised to hear that was a rule, please see the previous bit about how all professional business is conducted elsewhere
I didn’t want drama and I didn’t want complaints so I emailed the photography guru of SG you know her as @RAMBO and explained my error. To copy paste her response she said ….. “Hey there, No worries! No harm done. Thanks for the note.”
Now I don’t know how long it took some girls to see the original message but regardless of when it was opened they were all sent on May 11. So when people tell me that I am still contacting girls to shoot it is absolutely untrue. Yes I contacted girls who agreed to correspondence and I have the message history and screen shots to prove it
I am a professional. I conduct myself professionally and I have been doing that for decades not months not years, decades. I do not like bragging, I am not a self-promoter or a salesman, but I am the jealous guardian of my reputation as a professional
Now having just said that I am not a bragger it is sadly going to be necessary for me now to list a few professional photographic achievements and post a collection of my images that support the summary I am about to write:
I have shot more than 100 nude models
I have shot an additional 200 glamour clients
I have shot an additional 100 non nude models
I have won awards for architectural photography
I have been interviewed by both print and online magazines because they viewed me as a top professional in the field
I have written articles on sensuality and nude photography for magazines
I have been printed in a dozen magazines both on line and in print for my photographic content only not for ads
I have shot magazine ads for bridal, lingerie and sexy shoes
I have shot whole websites for make-up artists, sexy shoes, online dating and sexy outfits
I have shot landscape images for postcards
I have had weather photography featured in newspapers
I have had my industrial and urban decay photography featured in a book and a charity magazine
I have shot calendar images for a “men in uniform” calendar that was sold in the USA
I have taught nude photography at the beginner and intermediate to other photographers in 3 states and been paid a premium to do it
One model I shoot with regularly when she’s in the country has had her own TV show in two countries hosted Playboy videos and been in Playboy magazine in two dozen countries and I am one of only 5 photographers in the country she will shoot with outside Playboy
I am widely regarded as one of the best BDSM artistic fetish photographers on the Australian eastern sea board
I have shot more than a dozen book covers on specific commissions and sold images for many others
At least 3 of those books were on best seller lists in the USA
I have another image that will be used as a set dressing poster in a Hollywood movie
And a fucking partridge in a fucking pear tree
Does that sound like the resume’ of a sleaze bag who just wants to see girls naked ?????
So yes, slight my reputation and I will defend it. I didn’t know that rule existed here and I didn’t contact any girls with new offers after I found out about it. I continued existing correspondence till it dead ended and let it end without fuss. As I said to one person “I was trying to get started I wasn’t trying to get paid”
Am I disappointed, yes I am. Do I feel like I have lost something if the existing SG Sydney community doesn’t want me around based on that mistake, no I don’t. As I said earlier I came here to post my own bits and pieces and look around at what gets posted and I will still be doing that
And hey I get it, clicks, clubs and comfort zones aren’t new things. Fear of competition isn’t a new thing either
Here endeth the rant ……………………….. enjoy the images
