Phew! I'd better blow the dust off of the blogspace here and make an update.
In doing well in my new job role in Wales - the serious funk I was in has now passed and I feel so much better than I have in years. Its nothing amazing - just a supervisor in a cafe - but it is nice to actually have an effect on a job instead of simply serving it.
Art wise, I'm trying to push into new places and ideas after years of not wanting to travel outside of my comfort zone. Charcoal is a big favorite medium of mine now, and with my upcoming holiday I plan to go into paint in a serious way. Its slightly scary, as my ability with it as a medium is limited, but it will be a welcome challenge to try it out.
A fellow artist and friend of mine recently started a small studio with me as well, with intentions to start making some form of art, although quite what is yet to be decided. If you're interested you can see my posts here and my here as well.
I'm reading a hell of alot more lately too. I recently finished Amanda Palmer's "The art of asking", and re-read John Connolly's "Every Dead Thing". I've just started a book called "Intrusion" by Ken Macleod. Its great to be reading so much again and not just vegging out in front of the tube!
I still game, and recently became the proud owner of a Dreamcast :3. I absolutely adored the console when it launched even though I was like 12, and having it now its an absolute nostalgia blast. You bet your ass I'm playing Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi and Shenmue!
I've gotten into climbing in the past few years, and have developed a sizable trad rack in preparation of more lead climbing. I still need to get my personal level up to the point I can feel confident enough to push through a tough climb, but it is a great workout and a more sociable hobby than my usual choices.
Favorite sets -
Hopefully I'll remember to post again next month!
