pros and cons of my current indentured servitude (aka my internship)
this past weekend sucked the big one. i had two shows a day, meaning i left from home around 11am and didn't get back til around 11:30pm. needless to say, no love for the boyfriend these past two nights. i would've had a day off tomorrow, but i chose to accept a work call at, you guessed it, olney. tuesday will be the most fun day so far in this adventure. i have a work call from 10am til 5:30pm and then i run to the theatre next door to lightboard op a show. as is, my next day off is a week from tomorrow, but at least i get two of them in a row. however, knowing me, i'll call up iaste or atmo and see if i can get work for either day. i'm paying two of my bills late this month and that saddens me. a lot. i had a quick serious 2 minute talk with the boy and basically let it be known that if he does not get a job by the middle of this coming month, we WILL NOT be able to pay the rent for september. not even come close.
now i suppose a few of you are wondering where the pros part of my entry is coming in. well, i can think of three.
1) the soundboard op and i discovered this amazing hot chocolate sold at the concessions stand in the theatre lobby. it's by starbucks, and even though you just add hot water, it's creamy and delicious (and only $.50, employee discount).
2) since i've started the play, i've finished Lilith's Brood (a book i borrowed from Cairo), The Da VInci Code, and one-third of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. this is the most reading i've done since i graduated college.
3) for shits and giggles, the crew is going to stage a tech performance of our show, basically a spoof of the actors and some of the memorable lines in the show. today on headset, we played a game where we would try to listen for lines that could be taken in a sexual context. it was hilarious. my favorite was from petra, the older daughter, "you feel so delectably tired afterwards. and then you sleep better."
that is all my fine friends. time for a late dinner and an early bedtime.
