and boy was it an amazing game! the terps won it 78-75 in overtime. the terps were down by ten at the half and as much as 13 in the second half, but somehow they found that intangible brilliance to create comeback. kristi toliver hit an amazing three pointer with 5.7 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime, where the terps have been perfect this year (5-0 going into the game, 6-0 to end their season). they were perfect from the free throw line (6-6) including kristi who had not taken a free throw the entire game until then.
i am so proud of my lady terps. brenda frese, their amazing head coach, has only been at UMD for four years, but in that short period of time she has taken a team with a less than 500 record all the way to the national title.
i can not be happier for my terps. i am just so overjoyed i was a small part of their program and am now (and have been) one of their biggest fans.
one of the best parts about tonight: no one in the starting lineup is a senior and only one person is a junior. the rest are sophmores and freshmen, including the impressive point guard kristi toliver, a freshman with the poise and swagger of a seasoned senior.
