so i put my car in the shop this morning at 8am. by 4pm, i still didn't have it.
i put my car in cause it was due for a 60,000 mile checkup (which includes an oil change). estimate: $345. but oh no, my horn stopped working about two weeks ago. so i asked them to look at it. ok, estimate increased: $422. i get a shuttle home and go back to bed. phone call at 11am. they still don't know what's wrong. it may take all day. estimate upped again: $590. i went back to sleep. i woke up. it turns into afternoon and i start to get worried. phone call at 4:30pm. they still aren't done. they need to keep it overnight. no new estimate. can we say pissed
the price almost doubled. i don't have my car for an entire day. and no idea when they will be done. i called my mom, who then told me to call my dad. my dad told me to call back tomorrow morning, tell them to give me my car, and if they wouldn't, i will bring a lawyer. oh....and i should only pay the first estimate. i don't like to be mean, but right now i don't have a car, and that is very very bad
any opinions?

still, you can tell them upfront that they are not allowed to do anything else without your permission. this may cause delays though if they have to stop everytime they run into something. i try not to pay ppl with half my education to do car work for me. doesn't make sense to me, but can't always be avoided.
edit- orrrr, I was wrong and he's been back on for 2 months.
