Well, the last few days have been pretty busy...
One of my coworkers did a no-no. While working at another store, he returned/exchanged a game he'd bought - at full price - without telling telling the manager.
As a result, I'll be getting more hours at work, starting with a shift that ended at midnight on Thursday - 'course, I could've gotten off earlier if I'd wanted.
Friday morning (8am) I went in to the dentist get fitted for a crown. Since the tooth is on the top, the novacaine didn't allow for a Godfather impersonation - but the operation wasn't too bad. The goo they used for the tooth molds was kind of a cross between gum and marshmellow fluff (in texture).
I've gotten a temporary crown for now, but I'll be getting a gold permanent one in a couple weeks. Thankfully, the 'charged' metally sensation has faded away.
Saturday morning, at the suggestion of a film producing advisor of mine, I went to a writer's conference in Forest Grove. It was pretty fun - I saw an episode of Kung Fu and went to a screenplay structuring workshop. I'm going to try to use some things I learned to flesh out one of the playscripts I'd written a while back.
Saturday evening, I went to a "Dance for Joy" party - hosted by my Tango teacher. As well as having a chance to Tango in less structured environment, I ended up learning some of the basics of the Night Club 2-step, Cha-cha, and waltz.
While we were dancing, one of the women I was dancing with asked me how long I'd been doing it. When I told her "a few weeks", she said she was surprised and that I was doing quite well. My teacher also complimented my progress that evening - even suggesting to some of the girls on PSU Dance team that I (and a fellow classmate) might be good additions to the team.
After that party got out, a bunch of my fellow classmates and I went out to an all-night Milonga at the Beritine (sp?). I enjoyed the dances I got, though they were few. I was having trouble getting eye-contact with any of the girls, so it was hard to ask anyone to a dance (using proper Tango ettiquet).
One theory I have as to my difficulty is that one (older) woman who I manged to get a dance with thanked me after the first dance. Now, you may not know it but, at a milonga, it is pretty much a snub when you don't dance at least 2 songs with a partner - a manuever reserved to give you an escape, and to alter other dancers, when you end up dancing with a jerk or lecherous person (either of which I am not).
Salom rehearsals are going pretty well. It's going to be a pretty interesting performance, I think. Especially since it seems to be drifting to the kinkier end of the spectrum (not heavily so, but still).
Due to some technical difficulties, I've been split out of the ensemble to focus on being the Page of Herodias. I don't really lose any stage time, but I'm losing about half of my lines. Well, at least I can hone in one my character a little more.
