I logged on today and saw that Stormy was today's photoset. And that got me thinking...
Years ago, before the internet really blew up, Bulletin Board Systems (or BBS's) were still popular. A small(ish) site you dialed up on your computer -- full of topic boards, files to download, and games...
If a BBS had games, odds are LORD was one of them. Legend Of the Red Dragon. A pseudo-RPG where you had a character with one of three classes (Thief, Mage, Warrior) -- a least to start -- and only really got stronger by either fighting your mentor or buying better weapons/armor.
But, occasionally, you could increase your charm. With better charm, you could flirt more with the bar wench or other players. Get you charm high enough, you could even propose to them.
I don't remember how it started, but after a while, I married (in the game) a girl named Stormy -- she spelled her name with purple and grey letters. (At the time I went by Chinchill -- all in light grey).
Soon, whenever we were in the same game, whoever got their charm up first would propose to the other and we'd marry again. Flirting daily (which was one of the benefits of marriage) and, occasionally, having a kid (which had benefits of it's own). *sigh*
Good times...
