I like my facts to be backed up as well. Too many people are willing to believe any random factoid plopped into a newstory.

I spent my Samhain doing something frightening, but not at all pagan...

I spent my day trying to convince the Stanislaus County Fire Marshall not to shut down ERPS's operations out at the Rocket Ranch. We succeeded, I think. The new Fire Marshall has a science background, a laid back attitude, and a strong, personal relationship with reality.

We also showed him the things he...

Alright, I've been coming to this journal for like 2 months now, and it's the same entry from Halloween. Please tell me what the heck Samhain is.
plonk:
Samhain is the old Celtic New Year, falls on the same day as Halloween, and is popular with most pagans as a major holiday. As for why no updates, two reasons: first, I have been insanely busy. Second, I got a livejournal, as rocketgeek. My RL friends all seem to have them, so I finally joined the bandwagon.

Well, the boat delivery turned into a shakedown cruise. Rough stuff -- we returned to Honolulu midday Friday and I am only now, on Sunday, getting back to human. Will post more details later, but I am eternally glad that the captain and owner is a man of such great experience and judgement.

plonk, for evidence to the contrary of the official conspiracy theories going around, do a websearch on any of the things i asked stockula to explain about america in that current events post. you could probably type in whole sentences and get good results. as you will see, all of those things are real. i didn't just invent the systematic republican expulsion of black democratic voters in florida in 2000, the patriot act, or the shadow government out of my own head as a fun little story. smile
mindmeld23:
sure dude, all innuendos and bullshit phrased to prevent anyone from nailing anything definite down~

you make me sound like some kind of poet smile

i'm glad you like to read my posts.

Well, all packed to scoot my butt east for Starwood. One huge duffle, one medium gigantic duffle, and my shoulder bag. Clothes, bedding, and sundries for a week and a half in the woods.

for the record, if you stop and get a pack of matches (the paper kind), you can eat a match head a day and your body will sweat out enough magnesium to keep ticks and mosquitoes off of you.

Hope all goes/went well, as the case may be.

I am going to spend August helping an old friend deliver a boat he just bought from Hawaii to San Francisco. This is going to rock. I haven't run up any sea time in more than a decade.

As of Thursday, I am completely moved into my new place in SF... that is to say, the internet service got turned on smile.

But the really important thing is that I'm now in SF... and really should get around to meeting some of the SFSG crowd... this will require actually finding a photo that I do not find embarrassing to post here and getting...

Well, it looks like I am moving in to San Francisco proper. My new place is near Mission and Geneva. Little tiny in-law unit. I consider it temporary, until I can get better quarters. Along those lines, I am looking for a housemate to share an under $2k/month house somewhere in SF or environs. Enquire within, and know that I am much less of an...

Yes, and broadband has been hooked up at the new place. I will post a journal about it tonight, unless a certain buxom redhead shows up at my place tonight smile. I'll talk about her in the next entry too.

This is depressing. My book collection doesn't even fill half of a 5x8 U-Haul trailer. Clearly, it's way too small.

Today, I actually got something done. I finally finished the peroxide sparger I've been working on for about nine months. I'm such a slacker, but tomorrow I will be making peroxide. Life is good.
tastysoup:
whatcha makin peroxide for?
plonk:
Rocket propellant. And it didn't quite work out that way, due to a missing part and some unexpected behavior of the equipment.

My cousin Nick pulled into town this week. He's probably the most interesting and nifty of my cousins. He's the lefty vegan one, but I love him anyways smile.

He convinced me that I should join him up at our family's sacred land this Thursday and Friday... he's bringing up about a dozen friends from school, mostly women, so it promises to be a fun...

Cow Poopy, eh?

Beautiful Sunny San Luis Nabisco, eh?

Give me a ring when you get in. I'd like to take you out for civil discussion over a drink.
plonk:
Coolness! I'll drop you a line if they let me in. My grades were sufficiently rancid during my last college experience to make this a dicey proposition.
