Hooray for being financially viable again! Quick summer update...
I walked out of my last exam and embarked on a 34 hour nonstop drive with my brother, terminating in LA at JR's place. From there we went all touristy until Melissa flew in from the Jazz Dance World Congress in chicago. The four of us then trekked up to San Francisco (amazing) and then onward further to Yosemite. There may have been a bit of skinny dipping at 9,782 feet.
From there we headed back to LA for a few nights, then hit up the Grand Canyon and Zion. In Zion we climbed Angel's Landing, which was astounding. We then drove 28 straight hours back (with much rocking out in the 4-8 a.m. hours) to Georgia where I began in earnest my job search.
Worth mentioning perhaps is that somewhere along the journey west, Melissa and I settled on being a little more than just friends with benefits and are now firmly shackled via coupledom. C'est la vie.
At this point (mid-August), Melissa left for her internship in central florida whereas I settled into being a glorified WoW junkie. First visit to the lady friend we went to clearwater beach and got to witness a giant hotel being imploded. We also hit up the Salvador Dali museum, quite awesome. Trip #2 we met in Brunswick at the excellent Hostel in the Forest...very sweet place. We embarked from there to the Okefenokee for some canoe action...mmm, alligators.
On the way down to Brunswick I found out via telephone that I am now employed at the prestigious (aka never heard of 'em) Patient Care Technologies as a software engineer. Employment has now settled in around me like a coffin, but it beats living at home (which will persist about as long as it takes for them to print me a paycheck).
In other random news, I am uber excited about Against Me! this thursday. I may also try to make it to the athens show on Friday to make up for the fact that EVERY SINGLE TIME I've tried to see them in the past my friends have always bailed on me at the last minute. This time it's set in stone, I'm going with Megen and Laura and we already have the damned tickets.
