I had my first camping trip of the year this weekend... I'm still feeling it this morning. Just me and Dean went since it's too difficult to get a bunch of people together on short notice that will all get along and equal good times. i think i need a larger group of friends that all like each other... ha ha.. We were also planning on going to warp tour but no one else showed interest of going and there weren't that many good bands playing so We left on Thursday morning and headed to Kananaskis. There are a bunch of campgrounds so we figured we'd pick one once we got there... I'm not sure if Ive been there before but it was so pretty. All the lakes were really greeny We didn't get a campsite right on the lake which sucked but we were close. It would have been a really good group site actually since there was no one really that close to us. so you could be decently loud without pissing everyone off... the first day we just spent relaxing around the campground. Since we got up early to drive out dean fell asleep in the tent. i couldn't nap so i went and got my game boy (yes I'm that much of a dork i brought it camping...) and sat in the back of the jeep since there are two speakers right there. so i was just sitting there when all of the sudden i look up and a wolf is walking like 10 feet from me at the edge of my campsite. he watched me as he walked by and then disappeared. At first i was contemplating if i actually saw it. i heard dean coming out of the tent and i was just about to tell him about it when back comes the wolf but this time with a squirrel or marmot in his mouth. I'm glad dean saw it too since i don't think anyone would have believed me otherwise!
We went on a scouting mission to see who was going to be leaving Friday morning that had a lakeside camp site... so Friday morning woke up early and went for a walk to see if anyone had left yet. number 12. it was a wicked spot and they were packing up so we went and sat on the beach waiting for them to leave. so off they drove and the bastards who were across from them swooped in and stole the spot. After that we gave up realizing that everyone from across the way was trying to do the same thing we did. we went to the park information to find out about hikes. they had computers you could check them all out on. you could even watch someone doing the hike in fast forward. Which was cool cuz you could see how steep it was or how lame it was. they had the most annoying guy narrating it though. he talked in a Canadian accent and said eh alot and sweet. and about how he wished he had a mountain bike. if any non-canadians watch those they're going to think were all slow in the head! ha ha. So we picked one that was a bit difficult... to say the least. It went way up to a lake, Rawson, which was high enough up that there was snow! which i gladly laid in since it was so damn hot. the hike up was very slow going though since it was so step and my asthma was not being nice. i had two asthma attacks on the way up... and two ladies were even laughing at me just after they passed me while i was having one... everyone prolly figured i was just some wussy girl. The old ladies made it up but this poor girl cant even walk four feet without having to stop... anyways it was worth it. It was so pretty and the freezing cold water felt so nice. The walk down was alot better.. On the way back we saw a moose and her little one... i was excited i had only ever seen one other moose and it was full grown and babies are so cute! the next day we did a little hike in the morning to get warmed up then had some lunch and decided on another big hike to fill the rest of the day. It was 14 km and way to high of an elevation. i did alot better though. no asthma attacks although i did have to stop quite a few times just to start breathing normally. Or for water since it was so damn hot out. The very top of the hike was the fire lookout station. you could see the whole valley from up there. It was worth the gruelling agony. Plus we went to the little store after and dean bought me ice cream Ice cream makes it all better. Spent the night relaxing around the fire. Good times... he he.. although i did have to come home and go straight to work. After a shower of course. Now i just want to go camping again!

Camping was a blast, I froze my toes off the first night but we wised up the next night and wrapped hot rocks(from the fire) in towels and put them near our feet. We're actually off to Penticton to camp for an entire week, I'm excited cause I know the weather will be so hot the entire time and I've never hiked in b.c. before. Plus there is a water park there I am making my bf take me too
