First off, FUCK YOU MCDONALD'S! I'VE HATED YOUR FOOD FOR YEARS BUT NOW YOUR ADS ARE JUST PISSING ME OFF! Between you and the abortion clinic protesters, the first half of my Sunday was shit. THIS. IS. BULLSHIT. God forbid women have brains and be intelligent. God forbid we like good music besides what's on mainstream radio. God forbid we dress decently. The radio edit of this ad is even worse. It's just one woman with more dialog... which is more insulting.
Their other video didn't bother me as much, but it is still offensive. Gish says, "It's like they're trying to say that men who go to coffee shops aren't manly because they grow goatees and don't watch sports." (he looks good with a goatee) "Fuck them. Lots of people don't like football. It's not just restricted to 'hipsters' and people who drink coffee. Because football is a retard sport (laughs). If I don't bath, it's because I don't get nasty. I don't stew in my stank." (I can atest, he don't stank) "And if you have to wear glasses just to look cool, then you are a poser not a hipster."
I like indie movies and music. I like men with facial hair and glasses. I like jazz. The only reason I watch trash tv is to make fun of the bitches who make fun of themselves on national television. I hate khaki pants ("hipsters" radio ad), but that's just because, unless done properly, they're bad fashion. Granted, I don't know where Paraguay is, but that's just because I can't remember geography to save my life. At least I can find the US on a world map. Gish says, "It's one thing to insult someone's lack of intelligence, but to insult someone's abundance of intelligence... it's off key." I don't care if their targeting Starbucks in this "ad war", it's just offensive to people who enjoy coffee. Honestly, I hate coffee, but if I was a "coffee snob", I wouldn't be buying at either of those places.
Secondly, FUCK OFF ABORTION CLINIC PROTESTERS! To set the record, I'm pro-choice. It's my body and I want the say of what I do with it. I'm not saying I'm gonna run around and sleep unprotected with every man I see then use abortions as birth control. I just want the option should I need it.
I don't know the full background of this story. I don't know if there's already an abortion clinic that's being protested, or if there is going to be one. All I know is that the protesters are getting on my nerves. I completely believe that they have the right to say and believe what the want just as much as I do. I'm not condemning them for their opinions. I'm just saying FIND SOMETHING BETTER TO DO! They started a week or so ago with signs that said nothing but "40 days until the end". Then it was "Pray that this is not an abortion clinic." Then it was "Abortion stops a beating heart." So they're going to be doing this for over a month and they're mixing church with state (which is another rant all on it's own). Truthfully, most women get abortions before the heart even forms. There was a guilt out there for a day that someone made. An absolutely beautiful and well made quilt... but it was all about being pro -life. Really, people... really? You have nothing better to do but to try to tell other people they're wrong. I really don't appreciate that. The more I see them, the more they piss me off.
