I don't even care I look fat cause I MET MIKE JUDGE!
Last night was an Office Space 10th anniversary event.
David Herman (Micheal Bolton... he was really funny... and hairy), Ajay Naidu (Samir Nagheenanajar), Diedrich Bader (Lawrence... he's really fucking tall by the way), Stephen Root (Milton Waddams), Gary Cole (Bill Lumbergh), John C. McGinley (Bob Slydell/Dr. Cox... hotter than I imagined
), Kinna McInroe (Nina - "Thank you for calling Innitech, just a moment..."), Todd Duffey (Brian - Chotchkie's Waiter), Richard Riehle (Tom Smykowski), and of course the creator, Mike Judge, were all there.
All the others cut out the back at the end, but I met Mike Judge and that's really the most important. He's a huge inspiration for me through his movies/films/clips and The Animation Show. I didn't wanna be the pushy fan, but I kinda had to be just to get in there for a picture. Poor guy, he was such a trooper.
There were three drunk chicks that sat in front of us. The one in front of me was pissing me off the most. She would just laugh at random points and really loudly. Her friend only made it worse by putting a DVD in front of her mouth which bounced the sound back to us. She also stood up in front of me when the were introducing the actors. She told me "I'm only showing my appreciation, I thought it appropriate". Ok, wait for the rest to come out and for other people to stand, you looked like a jackass lady. Her friend also stood up and asked, "When are you gonna make a sequal!?" Honestly, I hope he never does and I think he's too smart for that. It's not like it wouldn't be good, but somethings are just too awesome on their own and need to be left well enough alone. Drunk chick in front of me got her what for at the end when a chick, clearly more pissed of at her than me, grabbed the drunk lady by the arm and yanked her down in to a seat yelling, "Don't ever fucking touch me again, bitch!" That was kinda awesome.
Other than that show, the movie was great... of course. It was cool to watch it on a big screen. The dynamic of the people there was not what I expected though. There was A LOT of drunk people and people that looked like they were just enjoying a night out on the town. There were very few true Austinites there which I found very shocking. For one thing, Mike Judge is a local guy and most of the film was shot in Austin (2 scenes in Dallas, apparently). For another, it's a fucking indie movie. That's what Austin is made of. The recommended movies for this area on Netflix are ALL indie movies. If anyone disagrees with that, fuck off it's my opinion
. Anyway, it was a really enjoyable time
.
Fun fact: Mike Judge has a degree in physics.
