I quit smoking! I am so happy! I can breathe, I don't stink, and I'm hoping that my voice will get stronger for my bands. I'm going around to all my social networking sites and changing my profile to nonsmoker, and it feels so good. I don't have cravings, moodiness (well, just a little, but that's becasue of the moon, not niccotine) and I'm happy to be free! My last cigarette was so awful...burnt my throat and tasted like doodie. Yay! If anyone's looking to quit, I used Allen Carr's book The Easy Way to Stop Smoking. Best $15 I ever spent.
I've finally settling into my vacation, and I feel like a big slacker when I'm not busy. I spent Friday going to art galleries and shopping in SoHo with my BFF Minnae. We pretended to be zombies back from the dead in search of ice cream or gelato. We'd walk with our arms out croaking "ICE CREAM!!! or geLAATOO!" Not too many people looked at us crossways either. That's New York!
Last night I had a show with my baby band, The Dashing Wildes. Musically we're really strong, but in terms of promoting ourselves, eh, not so much. On Thursday, my other band, Royal Pink, had a pretty big show at Crash Mansion where we were interviewed for New York Noise (our first interview!!). Unfortunately, most of our fans came after we played, as we had to go on at real time versus rock time, but it was still a lot of fun. I'd been spending so much time thinking about RP's showcase show that that I forgot to send out emails about The Dashing Wildes' show at Raggs of Harlem. We played to a rather emptyish house, really for only a few friends and the other band. But it was great, and we actually made our first money off of the door, a whopping $12.50! I hope we can play there again, and maybe this time I'll remember to let people know!
