HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
I hope that everyone else is having a happy and fun Halloween, I got stuck babysitting a pager.
Oh well I guess if I wanted to get Thanksgiving off I had to take the week that had duty during Halloween. Only regret I have is that this is the 3rd one I have missed out on in a row. Next year I will just have to make up for it
I'm sure that whitewidow and I will be able pull something off that will be plenty of fun, and I know that there are several things that go on in the San Diego area that are well worth the wait.
I guess I should explane the whole San Diego thing, I was finally able to get something in the way of orders. Granted it wasn't exactly what I had in mind but I think that it will work out pretty good. I'm going to be going to 1st Marine Division (1st Mar Div) for field med school in May at camp Pendleton (I think that its 10 weeks long) with following orders to a VBSS team (VBSS = vessel boarding search and seizure) based in San Diego. I've always wanted to either be a pirate, viking or a little of both at the same time and I think that this will fill that need nicely. Essentially a VBSS team has a fast moving boat filled with 8-12 team members that board and seize anything they find illegal. Granted I'm not going to be the one running around the ship searching everything since I will be the "doc" of the team but that's a bit safer position to be in. I was really hoping to avoid going to sea duty especially after getting married, but this may not be so bad since I think most of the operations are based out of San Diego and they are checking stuff out that is coming into the port and doing drug interdiction from stuff getting run up through Mexico. (At least that's what I've been told) I know I'm going to be hard pressed not to start using terms like Arrr and scurvy again but its not something one gets out of their blood once it's there. I think that I may have to not only start updating my page on here but to also make comments on other peoples pages as well. I also think that I'm going to have to start checking out the San Diego section on here to see what's up in the area for when we finally do get settled in down there. A couple other good points to getting stationed in San Diego is not only the great year round weather but the fact that Sea World, The San Diego Wild Animal Park, La Jolla, Mexico, Temecula etc are not too far away. Not to mention Disneyland is still not that far away either.

I so wish I thought of that. It's something to think about for next year.
