All my students scored above a 90% on their tests today so I'm pretty stoked, I guess that I'm doing something right. Its kind of odd this is the first real class that I've ever taught and it's kind of cool seeing how well my students have absorbed the information that they have been given in such a short amount of time. We're doing a full semesters worth of work in 3 weeks Last year when I re-certified there was a ton of bullshit going on and we had half of both my command and our parent command breathing down our necks. This time around they've left me completely alone to run the class. No "special motivational" speaches saying that if they failed anything they would be brought up for discipinary action, I think that in itself creates a much better learning environment. The only thing is that I was supposed to be supplied with a lot of teaching aids and EMS equipment to train with and our ambulance has been in the shop so I can't get into the rig to show them where everything is, and I've also been fighting to get additional help since I'm pretty much covering everything in the class and it's a lot of information to prepare for the next days lecture. I do a lot of it when they have study time in the class, or when they are taking a test so it makes me kind of busy when I've got a ton of other things I'm trying to take care of at the same time.
I've been trying to negotiate new orders to an advanced school that translates to real money on the outside if I ever get tired of playing sailor and it's been a pain in the ass. I can't get a straight answer about anything and it's driving whitewidow crazy since she is in a some what similar boat.. well I'd be in a boat and she would be up in one of these (such a lucky girl ). I think what makes it worst is that things keep changing everytime I find out about something, but today I got some pretty good news. I've got a pretty good hook-up when it comes to getting into this school since my chief not only was an instructor there but also is very good friends with the detailer, and he said that he would put together a letter of recomendation that was a bit above and beyond the standard letter he would send out.
Hopefully I'll be able to swing it, with all the crazy crap going on in Lebanon the Naval Hospital Corps is doing some very screwy things and they've started pulling sailors around to all sorts of places to fill in the gaps, and I'm just worried that they will try to do the same with me. Lucky for me I've picked up enough rank and am close enough to the end of my tour of duty that I should be able to use this to my advantage if it came down to it. That of course would be the last thing I would do it could also backfire and really screw me. Well I hope that everyone has a great weekend, I'm going to be cramming for a CLEP test all weekend and next week since it's been a long time since I took college level algebra and I need to prove that I'll be able to recall enough to take this school. (I've looked at the stuff and I'm in deep shit )
