New Music-Video-Lyrics crush!!!!!
(... My non-musical crush is still the same.... And she knows it!!!! )
This song is very different from the last one... But there's also something in common....
So, a couple days ago i went to sing in a karaoke club (i'm a karaoke animal!!). The owner knows me very well, so he's used to CHANGE the songs i want to sing, with the ones he wants to listen to (and nobody sing). I'm not a good singer, but i know many songs... So... i was starting to sing Umberto Tozzi's "Stella Stai"... but... surprise... the speakers began to play this rhtyhm:
Wow!!! "True faith"! I used to listen to it when i was a "small boy"... Ok... i thought: "I'll try to sing it!"...
So, these lyrics appeared on the screen... i never noticed them... They are simple but really beautiful...
NEW ORDER - "True Faith" - 1987??? Maybe 1988 in Italy....
I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling i'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
I don't care 'cause i'm not there
And i don't care if i'm here tomorrow
Again and again i've taken too much
Of the things that cost you too much
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood i lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...
When i was a very small boy,
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we've grown up together
They're afraid of what they see
That's the price that we all pay
Our valued destiny comes to nothing
I can't tell you where we're going
I guess there was just no way of knowing
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood i lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...
I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling i'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
The chances are we've gone too far
You took my time and you took my money
Now i fear you've left me standing
In a world that's so demanding
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood i lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...
These lyrics touched my heart... but also hurted me while i was singin' them ... I also stopped to sing to read them better!!! The thing that made me think was... that i first listened to this song WHILE i was a small boy (like the guy in the lyrics!) in my pre-teenage... I was loosing my childhood, and it's true that sometimes it was replaced by fear! And that the world of the adults is so demanding!!! This song, at that time, predicted my future (my teenage) ... but fortunately, when i became a man, that future became my past (now i feel more self-confident). But, as an italian small boy, in the 80's i didn't understand the words... And i danced to this song in the afternoon-birthday parties of my schoolfriends,!! I noticed the lyrics 20 years later!!! It's better late then never!!!! Great great song!!! Great New Order, and Joy Division too!! And Great Karaoke Club's Owner!!
