I think the Red Sox player I mostly connect with steroids with was Millar. Here's a guy who was hitting close to 30(?) a year before they started testing and then he's not hitting for shit afterwards. Papi and/or Manny perhaps too, I guess, but I'd bet there were more "role" players doing it than superstars. I also think that there were way more pitchers juicing than people realize. It just makes sense that if superstar hitters are doing it that pitchers and scrubs were too.
I don't know if players still are. I don't know if the testing procedures are working. I'm glad they instituted them and I hope baseball is becoming cleaner, but I think it helps to realize that the issue was more widespread. It certainly wasn't just Bonds, McGuire, Palmiero and Sosa. It was a whole fucking mess of people. Hell, Benito Santiago and Marvin Bernard were implicated in the BALCO scandal and they both sucked. Make no mistake, there were "BALCO" type labs all over the country.
Anyway, no problem. It's an emotional issue and I understand that.
