We took Sam to the vet yesterday afternoon. He'd lost half his body weight since he was last there, and the doctor it was certain it was his liver and/or kidneys, with the possibility of a brain tumor. I have a sick guinea pig and I have a feeling the vet trip may be his last. He's having trouble walking, can't hold his head straight, and he continues to lose weight no matter how much he eats. He's 4+ years old which is good for a piggie, but, if this is the end, He will be missed.

The doctor said, when we went for post-op, that due to the severity of the slip, if the screw doesn't work and his hip doesn't start to correct, they'll have to do another surgery where they make a cut in his femur...

pfffeeww. Long week.

A year and a half ago my son had a slipped capital femoral epiphysis in his right hip. Basically, if I can translate this correctly, the growth plate at the top of his femur slipped out of place, along with his femur. The doctor put a screw in to stabilize his femur.
