This online journaling thing is surprisingly good. I'd always kind of mocked the concept, but it's much better than I could have anticipated.
..who knew?..
Rode my bike to work today, which is 40 minutes each way. I like it, and plan on doing it as regularly as possible, rain or shine, but hope for shine. I need to get a helmet, though, as I took a tumble in my last helmet and haven't replaced it yet this season. I don't wear one on the trails, but I feel naked without it in traffic.
The entire impetus for riding the bike was that my car is in the shop. Among other things, I asked them to take a look at the broken glove box, call me with an estimate, and I'd approve it if I could afford it. Well, I couldn't afford it, and what's a broken glove box anyway... but they went ahead and did it anyhow. After I told them I can't afford it. So tonight when I go to pick it up, I need to somehow stand up and tell them I don't want to pay for labor. The glove box hinge I can pay for, it's the labor I can't do. It's situations like this I hate to be in at work, as the retailer, so I am so very reluctant to make someone else's workday sticky. We'll see.
I'm on my way out to hear Li Young-Lee reading tonight, I'm not all too familiar with his writing but a friend of mine loves his work.
I'll update here my thoughts, post-reading. We're going out for the city's best tater tots afterwards, and probably some liquor too, so we'll see if I get around to posting tonight again or not.

I'm not much of a gambler. I never play with any hopes of winning. Mostly I like the little video game type machines where you can bet in dimes or nickels. I can sit for hours at one of those with a $5. lol. Sometimes I get lucky and will walk away with $25 more than I started.
The one thing I hated about owning a car and being a girl was how the repair shops always tried to rip me off. I took my car in for a tune-up once, and they tried to sell me a new carburator.. making it sound like my car could break down any minute if I didn't pay them $800.00 now. Assholes. I was really glad to find one of my friend's father is an automech. He would do all the work for me during down time at his shop and only charge me for parts. Sometimes it would take awhile if the shop was busy, but it was always worth the wait just to know he wasn't trying to rip me a new one.
