So, I am a bad manager.
Yup, thats me. I'm sure just about everyone knows about the major snow/ice storm that hit us all here in the midwest area. At my house, we had about 7 inches of snow, plus a few inches of ice mixed between. It star ted Wednesday afternoon---and my mall refused to close. Majority of my employees could not get to work, and the mall refused to close. I barely got into my driveway when I got home, and then I had to leave to take a key up to work, so that the girl who was helping me out could lock the gate to my store. After driving up there on completely snow covered roads, digging her car out of all the ice, and coming back home, I could not get in the driveway. Had to wait for my sisters 4x4 to push me in the drive ( my car would be towed if I parked it in the street)
So then I woke up at 6:30 am Thursday because I knew the girl who was scheduled to open wouldn't be able to leave her house. Of course, we were under a level 3 snow emergency, so NO ONE could leave their house unless it was an emergency. Cops were ticketing/arresting people for driving. The mall STILL refused to close. I decided we wouldn't open til 10....the snow emergency was still in effect, so I decided on 2 PM. but then I decided that its not right to put $$ and greed before any of my employees lives. How the hell would I feel if they got in an accident on the way to work and spent the holidays in the hospital?
Therefore, my store did not open yesterday.
I have this huge fear of upper management, so this is quite a step for me. But you know what?? All they care about is their precious $$. They could give a shit less if my car slid off the side of the road and I was impaled by a tree. My sis and I left the DSM a message saying we'd try and get to work after 2 PM when the emergency was lifted, and then we never showed up?? and she doesn't try to see if we're ok?? No, she's probably just sitting at home crying about her lost money. Stupid bitch.
I rebelled against "the man". haha. Go me.
