It's not often everyone experiences a day that at the end of it, they sit back and say "Wow, today was one of the best days of my life"... Fortunately for me, yesterday was one of those days! Yay me!
It started with going out with my Mum and my Aunt Dawn to Brighton for shopping. I managed to guide our lil' band through the lanes of Brighton (which, if you don't know where you're going, can get you very lost!) to a truely groovy comic book store. I stayed in this store for about an hour, wondering around in complete bewilderment as to what to spend my money on. I evetually settled on some Buffy and Angel comics and a Elvis Presley glasses case. What Elvis has to do with comics I'm not entirely sure.
Once I got home, I showered and got ready for the evening ahead. I was going to see one of my favourite bands of all time, New Found Glory. I was going alone as none of my friends were quick enough to get tickets but I didn't really care about that. They were playing a venue called the Wedgewood Rooms. The place is tiny, especially compared to the arenas NFG are most used to playing in the states.
The support bands got a frosty reception that kind of embarassed me. Here were two good bands, playing their hearts out, only to be greeted with boos and chants of "NFG! NFG!". Some people are so impatient!
New Found Glory took to the stage and played an awesome show. What I love about this band is the amount of energy they put into their live shows. I can't stand bands that just stand there and look like they badly want to be somewhere else. New Found Glory don't do this. They rip through their songs at break-neck speed, bouncing off the stage and walls as they do so. I know I'm really biased, but I've now seen this band 5 times and they've yet to let me down.
Once they finished playing, I went out to the merch booth and bought a kick ass hoodie, which I haven't stopped wearing yet. I then went on outside and waited.
Who was I waiting for? Check this out...
me with Steve from NFG
me with Ian from NFG
me with Chad from NFG
I know it's stinks of crazy fan girl to wait around outside a venue trying to meet the band, but quite frankly, it's worth stinking like that!
After that, I went over to my friends Mike and Jayne's place and did a huge happy dance around the living room singing "I just met New Found Glory". Ace!
So how are you? xxx
