The 7 or 10 people who've told me how cool my hair is this past week that I've been in SF have had 1 thing in common: they've all been black.
From the women who yelled at me from their car as I was crossing the street to the security guard who told me I should always keep my hair this way to the little girls who told me my hair is "tight", black people love my hair.
It makes me wonder about where our ideas of beauty come from and when we get them. It makes me wonder about archetypes and cultural identity. Nature and nurture. blah blah blah, I'm always wondering....
Anyway, I'm usually anonymous but it's fun to be noticed sometimes, to entertain people..
ok, off to watch burning man footage at the odeon.

i am always scared that black people will get mad at me for having dreadlocks. but they're usually the ones that compliment me and white people look at me like bugs are going to jump out onto them. fuckin crackers.
