I usually stay up late due to the fact that I am always listening to music and can't sleep. Music is absolutely amazing and I don't think I could live in a world without it. I'm going to start writing and sharing music that I like on here because I feel like I might find people that will appreciate it as much as I do. I took one music appreciation class so I know a bit of the terms, but other than that I have no musical background. Well...I played the trombone I'm 5th grade but that was it haha. I didn't really find a style of music of my own until recently. Growing up I would listen to what my brother listened to, which was mostly System of a Down, Three Days Grace, Linkin Park, etc.
In High School I started listening to Lana Del Rey, Foster The People, and Katy Perry. Those were three of the artists I listened to the most. I would occasionally dabble in some hip hop. Once I graduated, that's when I started broadening my horizons. I had started going to Coachella the last year of High School, but the year after is when I started discovering different artists like Toro y Moi, Grimes, Purity Ring, Nosaj Thing, ODESZA, etc. Something about these artists tingle my eardrums in a way I can't explain. I love when songs have meaningful lyrics, but I think the thing I am drawn to the most is the way a song can make me feel without words. The beat, the rhythm, the melody, the different frequencies, subtle noises in a song, how it is all assembled to make something beautiful.
I started working for a speaker company and my boss gave me a subwoofer for my car. Since then I have really paid attention to the bass and beat of a song. It has become a very important part of a song for me. There is so much I would like to say and talk about, but my mind is everywhere right now.
I will be sharing a song and breaking down what I love about it. I don't expect many people to read this, but maybe someone will and they will like some of the music I share! I've always loved sharing music with people. There is so much music I love and I still can't figure out why I am drawn to certain songs. Hopefully trying to write it down will help me figure it out.
